It is a proven fact that when you receive an email that has your name on it you feel more attached and certainly more special than with a generic email. When people feel like they are part of a group they are more likely to respond positively than when they don't feel included. There are many psychological aspects that must be considered with your email marketing campaign and whether or not you personalize emails, and how this affects your customers, is worth thinking about.
If you use personalization correctly in your email marketing campaign then you will have a better chance of creating a relationship and a bond between the customer and your brand. This is really important and it is just as important to ensure the personalization is done correctly. Otherwise, you will do more harm than good and potentially lose a customer. That's why you must understand personalization and make sure you get it right. The following tips will help you personalize an email in the proper way.
Introduction
The first thing you must consider is your customer. Are you writing to a consumer or to a business client? This is important because a regular consumer might warrant an email that begins, "Hi, Sue," while a business client might warrant more formality or something to the effect of, "Dear Mr. Johnson". Getting the tone right is important and this means you must know who you are writing to.
References
In your email you want to really create a bond with the customer. So, if this particular customer has recently purchased something from you make reference to that. For example, you could write, "Thank you for buying the Canon Elph digital camera from us." This lets the customer know you remember them and appreciate their business. Once you have them feeling good about your company and follow up then you can go in for the up sell. Ask them if they need a new battery or memory card for their new camera. Suggest a new camera case or extended warrant. Whatever you offer be sure to link to the product so they can immediately make the purchase!
City
Make your customers feel like they are part of a group or area. Write in the email that "Everyone in New York knows the best pizza" or "The best Chinese food in Raleigh." You are connecting your reader to a place, their location, and this is important and will help you make more sales. Remember, too, that if you get the recipient and their location mixed up then you will be doing more harm than you are good.

Everyone knows, that technology shrinks everything, and digital camera technology is no exception. The small, the better . . . right? Wrong! Smaller is not necessarily better, it's just smaller. Consumers have a preoccupation with small though. Ever since Captain Kirk said "beam me up Scott" and Dick Tracey started sporting his little video phone wrist watch, people have been fascinated with technology gone small. Digital photography continues to follow the trend, and I can't help but tag along.
We're going to say away from the whole ultra tiny "James Bond" type spy camera stuff for now, so you'll have to read elsewhere if you want to keep tabs on that wandering spouse of yours. I digress. Let's concentrate on the ultra compact / pocket sized / sub compact digital cameras with nice big LCD screens that take really nice images.
There are quite a few to choose from in this category, as all the big manufacturers like to play in this retail sandbox. Canon, Sony, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus and Kodak all have some nice models here. One of the most popular, has to be the Canon SD1000 Digital Elph Camera. It's been the number one ultra compact with many of the online retailers for some time now. The Olympus Stylus 790SW brings an interesting twist to this niche with a freeze proof, water proof, and shock proof camera. As if that wasn't enough, it's also available in black, lime, blue, orange, and boring old silver. Its not only tough but fun too.
Make sure you get a decent resolution LCD with any camera in this category. 230,000 pixels would be the minimum resolution I'd settle for here. You may want to check it outside in bright sunlight before you buy one as well. Some LCDs have a nasty habit of fading away till they're practically useless outdoor. I harp on the LCD quality, only because your probably not going to find a viewfinder on many cameras in this category. Manufacturers like to ditch the viewfinder for more LCD size. The downside being, that the LCD better be good, as it's the only way you'll be able to know what your taking a picture of. Side note: be sure to carry around extra batteries . . . big LCDs are battery hogs.
Of course, the best small digital cameras will have good LCD screens, good durability, and good control button layouts. Especially important in smaller cameras. A couple of other good models to consider would be anything from the Nikon Coolpix line like the P5100, or the Sony CyberShot DSCW55. As a final note, don't just order a ultra compact digital camera online, without holding one in your grubby little paws. Small cameras especially need to be held and tried out to make sure they feel comfortable and usable for perspective buyers.

So, you need to buy a digital camera either for yourself or someone else. The problem is, you've never bought a digital before, and you don't have the time to get up to speed on all the pros and cons of digital cameras. Well, that sort of speeds the process up already, as we've just eliminated all the professional grade cameras and move to the category of hobbyist or casual photographer cameras.
That eliminates a lot of cameras, and narrows down the list of features we need to concern ourselves with. The first item we need to consider is budget. For simplicity sake, let's consider two categories. Under $200, and $200 to $500 cameras. After $500 we're getting into semi professional equipment, and going with our previous assumption that's neither you nor the lucky recipient of your purchase.
There's plenty of good cameras in the under $200 category, but I wouldn't venture below the $100 mark. Unless of course you like standing in customer service lines. The Canon PowerShot A720IS, or the Canon SD1000 Digital Elph are both respectable cameras. Backed by the solid Canon name, with plenty of megapixels, and some nice features like image stabilization, in camera editing and large sized LCD screens. The SD1000 is what's considered a ultra compact, so it's smaller and easier to stow in tight spaces.
In the over $200 category, you get more features, more megapizels, some extra accessories, and generally a more durable camera. Cameras to consider here would be the Canon PowerShot SD950IS or the Pro Series S5. The S5 has a nice 12X optical zoom for those times when want to be out of the scene but still want a close candid shot. Don't be shy about spending the extra money in this category, as I've generally found that cheap electronics always comes back to haunt you.
If that doesn't help, I keep a short list of recommended camera ratings and prices gathered from across the internet updated by the minute (aren't computers great). It's a great way to speed up the process, and eliminate all the less than stellar cameras. It's a fast and simple digital camera buying guide all on it's own.

So, what's your budget for a digital camera? That's one of the first questions a salesman will ask, when they catch you skulking around their shop trying to inconspicuously check out their lineup of digital cameras. It's a hard question for many consumers to answer, when you've never priced digital cameras before. Digital camera prices vary widely, depending primarily on quality and functionality.
Asking what your want your camera to do for you and how you plan to use it would be a far better question to consider before starting your digital camera search. Since digitals range in price these days from $100 to around $5000, price is really to vague a consideration to think about in the beginning. For the sake of discussion, though we could break digitals down by price category. This should at least give you a baseline to start from.
For under $200 there are some pretty nice digital cameras that would suit the purposes of the average photographer. Someone in this category is looking to have a good camera to take on vacation, to the cousins wedding, and to catch junior blowing out the birthday candles. The Canon PowerShot A570IS is a good choice here. Going for under $150, it comes with some advanced features like face recognition and image stabilization. For $20 or $30 dollars more, you could get the more compact Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Elph. Less image quality, but substantially smaller and portable.
Anything in the $200 to $500 price range will get you much the same camera as the previously mentioned cameras, with a few improved features. Typically higher resolution LCD screens, better lenses, higher zoom factors, more manual control, and overall better image quality. Don't worry about megapixels, as the image quality of any camera over 5MP will be all but indistinguishable to the average photographer.
In the $500 to $1000 your looking at a cornucopia of entry digital level digital SLR cameras. Models like the Canon XTi Digital Rebel, and the Nikon D40 are good examples. These cameras are capable of taking some truly amazing photos. Plenty of manual control tweaking for the semi serious professional further enhance your picture taking options here. Don't forget to leave money in the budget for different lens choices as well.
If your looking in the over $1000 price category, then to be quite honest you don't need my help. The best digital camera prices for these cameras is really less of an issue. Anyone looking to spend this much money for a camera should let their own personal preferences be their guide. Camera functionality and image quality are far more important at this point.

Both the Powershot, and the digital Elph are among the most popular in the Canon line up of digital cameras. If you talk to anyone whose owned more than a couple of digital cameras in their lifetime, chances are they purchased a model for one of these two lines. Here's a quick summary, of what I consider to be the top cameras in those lineups. Going from favorite to least favorite. While it would be hard to go wrong with any camera listed here the closer to the top, the better off you'll be.
The SD1100 wins top spot for my favorite compact digital camera. It's an evolution from the SD1000, with a number of notable enhancements. Image stabilization for starters. Secondly, a zoom lens that goes from 38 to 114 mm. The form factor has also been improved, with a decent sized grip for right-handed folks. Apologies to all the lefties out there, even if Canon has forgotten you. For those of you tired of the stainless steel or dull gray, you'll be happy to know that the SD1100 comes in an assortment of colors.
If a wide-angle lens is high on your priority list of items that are a must have for your digital camera, then the SD870IS digital Elph needs to be on your short list. It may be a little bit bigger than the SD1100, with a conspicuously missing optical viewfinder, but don't let that scare you away. It's a fine camera, and the eight megapixels may come in handy if you tend do a lot of cropping.
As with many of the Canon cameras, it can be kind of hard to tell the players without a program. The SD770IS kind of falls into this category, as its similar in some respects but evolutionary to the SD 1100 IS. It's generally priced a little more expensively, but does have a few features to justify what extra costs. Such as improved battery life, and an LCD screen with a higher resolution. For the average photographer though, image quality is often not the overriding factor in a camera purchase (unfortunately).
The SD950IS camera comes in a 12.1 megapixel model. That in of itself is probably one of the overriding features for its popularity. Don't be a sucker for megapixel though. More is not always better. In some cases, to get better image quality you're better off with less megapixels and a larger image sensor. It's a little expensive, but with a nice zoom lens, and panoramic picture stitching included, the price increase is justified.
It can be hard to get a decent zoom lens with a compact camera, but the SD890IS comes pretty close. With a 5X zoom, 10 megapixels, and a much improved LCD, this Canon Powershot ELPH is a great camera.
The Canon SD790IS there is a striking resemblance at least as far as the zoom lens is concerned to the SD770 IS. Of course, with this camera you get a noticeably larger 3 inch LCD display in the misfortune of no optical viewfinder. Not my favorite design compromise. Control layout is somewhat simplified, with fewer buttons to choose from.
It's difficult to make a bad purchase decision with any of these cameras, or for most Canon cameras in general. Be sure to try out a few at the store to get a good feel for what you like. Then shop around online to get the best price.

Just got back from Cozumel and I used this case everyday for 6 days. I was very impressed with the quality of pictures and video. I was so sick of using the disposable cameras and this worked better than expected even out of the water. I greased up the seal everyday before I went snorkeling and I had no problems at all. I also kept it wrapped in bubbles in a small bag when not in use so It wouldn't get scratched. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Never may be too harsh a word, but you'll want to learn of a few problems with the Canon PowerShot SD850 Digital Elph Camera before you actually buy one. It has some flaws you may not be aware of. Most digital camera reviews you read online are nothing but thinly veiled attempts to sell you the camera. There's no sales pitch here, just an attempt to bring to light problems with the Powershot SD850 Digital Elph.
Barrel distortion can be common with several cameras in this category and price range, but generally not to the extent that it is in the SD850. Barrel distortion in photography generally refers to an image whose quality is good at the center, but gets distorted the further you go from center. Barrel distortion is sometimes referred to as edge or corner softness.
Canon decided that giving you information you can't do much about, might be a good idea. Not really sure why. When the shutter button is half way pressed, the PowerShot SD850 displays the F/Stop setting the Digital Elph will be using for the picture your about to take. Which is nice, but it would be even nicer if you could adjust it. The way it's designed right now, you can't.
Ergonomics are important in digital cameras, especially because of their size. Being so small, digital cameras can be cumbersome even at the best of times. Especially for those with larger hands. The PowerShot SD850 seems to have missed the mark with a couple of points in this category. Firstly, the power button is positioned in such a way that getting greasy finger prints on the LCD is next to impossible. Secondly, due to a curved base, the SD850 DigitalElph can be tricky to set on a flat surface for the purpose of using the timer.
That's just a few points you should keep in mind if your considering a Canon PowerShot SD850 Digital Elph Camera. Lucky for you, there are plenty of other good digital cameras to consider. Good deals on digital cameras are plentiful these days, if you just know where to look.

This is my everyday camera. It is easy to configure and fits nicely in my pocket. Canon sensors provide phenomenal clarity in all lighting conditions. I also own and love my Nikon D40, but this Canon is my go anywhere, convenient, light-weight workhorse. This is my second digital elph and I will continue to purchase Canons in the point-and-shoot form factor. The lack of a viewfinder should not be a concern for anyone considering this camera. The LCD is highly detailed and very large. Looking through a viewfinder almost seems alien to me now. I love being able to compose a shot without having the camera glued to my face. Being able to see what is happening through my eyes rather than a viewfinder, while positioning the camera is a beautiful thing.

What would you do with a camera that failed to live up to your expectations? Try returning it? Sell it on Ebay? Drop if off the Golden Gate Bridge? How about, get the facts you need to make the right buying decision in the first place. Sounds good to me. The Canon PowerShot SD800IS Digital Elph is one of the best selling point and shoot cameras available. But, is it the right camera for you? I'm going to skip all the strong selling features of the SD8000IS Elph, and go straight to what I think are the problems . . . and let you decide.
Firstly, lets start with face recognition focusing. The SD800IS as well as a number of Canons are supposed to recognize peoples faces, and focus on the faces for the best picture. It's a great idea in theory, but not so good in practice with this PowerShot. When using the face recognition mode, items around, behind, and near the faces in the photographs are in focus, but quite often the face is not. Face recognition is an idea whose time has come, but Canon needs to do a little more work to get it right.
Chromatic aberration has been a problem in a number of the Canon point and shoots, including the predecessor to the SD800IS, the SD700. Canon obviously doesn't see it as a problem, since it's still visible in the SD800IS. Sometimes called "color fringing", chromatic aberration is a cameras inability to focus two or more different colors on the same focal plane. Mostly, it shows up on wide angle photographs, and can look like a fringe of color around an object that shouldn't be there.
Image noise with this PowerShot is a problem with any photos taken at ISO 400 or higher. If you really want to push it, you could take pictures at ISO 800, as long as you don't plan on developing any pictures greater than 4x6 or 5x7. Using after the fact software to reduce image noise is a possibility, if you don't mind the loss of crispness in your images due to the software's softening algorithms.
It's not a completely damning list of problems for the SD800IS, but things you should be aware of. Things that are better to know up front before buying. Here's just a few more problems to consider.
- no freedom to tinker with the exposure
- red eye artifacts appears quite frequently
- short battery life
- MPEG support for movies has been excluded
- luminance histogram is restricted to playback mode only
